Something to think about as our New Year’s resolutions are around the corner: two UN-reports published in the space of as many months tell us the climate change challenge is far bigger than we thought (link and link). Solutions need to come through in the next decade if we don’t want to break through the critical 2°C threshold. And that might be wise, as beyond that, climate change effects become irreversible and self-continuing according to the UN-researchers.

nlmtd is directly involved in finding such climate change solutions. With Fudura, a subsidiary of a key energy grid company, we work on accelerating electric transport infrastructure adoption. With sustainability organisation Buurkracht, we work on speeding up the transition to sustainable heating alternatives for the Netherlands.

These projects link to nlmtd’s purpose as sustainability for us is about three things: making a positive impact, rapid innovation & transformation, and attracting the best talent to make it happen.

President Obama couldn’t have said it clearer: “we are the first generation to feel the effect of climate change and the last generation who can do something about it.” Talking about making a positive impact, this is without a doubt one of the biggest challenges mankind ever faced.  To tackle it in an incredibly short time, we need rapid innovation & transformation on all levels: social-cultural, technological, legal, political, etc. And to achieve this transformation, we need the world’s very best people, because it will be the way in which we succeed in directing our generation’s best and brightest to this challenge, that will determine its outcome.

Not coincidentally, these are some of nlmtd’s pillars, and why they resonate so well with our customers and clients. At nlmtd, we help public and private organisations define their strategy. We help them innovate to materialise that strategy, and we help them lead and transform their organisation to achieve it.

At nlmtd, talent no longer has to choose between a purposeful job with a relatively low salary or a high-paying job with little purpose. Not only do we make an impact through our projects and our clients; we actively dedicate our nlmtd time to it. We help one of the biggest and most innovative employee purpose engagement platforms, GoodUp, make an even bigger impact – and that’s just one example of our new year’s resolutions.
